Fuel in the valley

Well, went fishin after work today and got down to the river and smelled fuel when I got out of my truck. There is fuel puddled in the valley. Can't tell if it's coming from the pump, bowl, a line or what. Guess I'll tear into it tomorrow evening after work and find out. Any tips or info on anything specific to look for?

Just get everything to rebuild it first if youre gonna tear into it. And remember how to take it apart because this won't be the last time.

OR convert to electric fuel...

I've been thinking about e fuel, but I don't really have the money for that right now. I'm just gonna find what's leaking and fix that for now.

Fuel in valley

Two possible causes, 1. your fuel pump is leaking. It could be either a fuel hose or the fuel pump. The fuel bowl also could be leaking.

I've got a box with the bowl and all that stuff in it from when I did the E fuel. Let me know if you need anything.

clean up the valley real good, put a few paper towels in the valley, start it up and see where its dripping. if you have a little inspection mirror, take a look at the weep hole on the under side of the fuel pump on the passenger side. if thats dripping, time for a new pump and replace the hoses in the valley while you have them all exposed in the pump replacement process.
if the leak is coming from the fuel bowl area, that may be cracked, or a hose underneath, or the fuel pressure regulator. so just dry the valley and get a better idea of where the leak is coming from before digging into it.

Thanks Glenn, hopefully I'll have what I need between the other two trucks, but I will keep that in mind and appreciate the offer bud!

Thanks for the info Matt. I was gonna try to put something in there to see if I could find exactly where it's leaking. I do have a small inspection mirror, but didn't even think about it til you said it! Forgot I even had the thing! LOL!! Thanks man!
