Enough Truck???

Hello all,
I'm looking to upgrade to a 5th wheel after selling my 32' TT and diesel Excursion. I have 3 kids so the majority of 5ers that fit our family are 14-15,000 lbs loaded.
My question: I am looking at an '05 F350 CC DRW Lariat 6.0 diesel with a max tow weight of 16,100.

Will this be enough truck?

And yes, I know of and have experienced most of the 6.0 engine heart aches.

I'd so so. DRW should have plenty of payload capacity for whatever 5th wheel you choose.

Not sure why you think you NEED that heavy of a 5er for 3 kids. We have 4 kids, our 5er is 9,200# wet. I'd LIKE to have a bigger heavier 5er with a seperate bunk room for the kids, bigger kitchen area, massive swimming pool holding tanks, 2nd toilet, 3rd ac, triple axle, garage for a vw beetle, theater room, blah blah blah.
Growing up as the oldest of 3 brothers, the 5 of us went on many cross country trips in an overhead camper. Our memories weren't really about the rv amenities as much as the company and trip. Mom n dad upgraded to an 16' Hi-low when i became a teen, then eventually a 5th wheel right when i started college.
YMMV

As to the 6.blow question a dually is enough for those stated weights, as long as you don't get upset when a 6.7 flys past you with a similar trailer

I don't understand this at all.If you knew a stock was about to dive, would you buy several shares? Folks buying these trucks is one of the biggest wonders of this world to me.I really don't get it.I would look at the gas engine options of the era first.

Wesley,my ancestors lived in birch bark wigwams (much like teepee's) for thousands of years. No one NEEDS a 5th wheel camper. It's just what he wants and if he can afford it,cool.
I travel with a car and a tent.

I'd worry more about CCC, GVW, and GCVW before max trailer weight. Personally, I wouldn't touch a 6.0. We have a few at work at they have been garbage. Two motors have been replaced. With most DRW trucks, you should be fine for the weights you posted. I tow that with a SRW and I'm just within the GVW for the truck, and have plenty of room for GCVW and max trailer weight.
