I have a fitting that screws on the power steering pump with metal line, well there is a ceramic piece that is letting a little power steering fluid leak out.
Ford wants $51 for new one anyone think I could pull one off of one in the junk yard with alot lower milage and get it to stop leaking. the present one is not cracked a I think it is just worn.
Comments anyone ever had this power Steering Leak problem before on line where in screws into the power steering pump just looking for a little cheaper fix ..... ????
I assume you are talking about the teflon seal on the hose, or is this something different? Anyway, if you are talking about the teflon seal, the service manual says you need to replace the hose if it's leaking at the fitting, and I believe, whenever the hose is removed. Not a better idea from Ford. They should have designed this to use a standard o-ring that could be replaced when needed.
If you want to try replacing just the seal, you could measure the seal size and then try to find an o-ring to match. Just make sure the o-ring material is compatible with oil and keep your eyes on it until you're convinced it's doing the job. I can't say this will work as I've never tried it on the power steering hose.
By the way, I had a friend who owns Brand X (Chevy Suburban) go through a similar deal. He tried fussing with different o-rings on the hose and finally broke down and bought the new hose from the dealer.
It is a Teflon seal and I can only think of two sources for it. You may try the local plumbing store first. They have lots of Teflon seals of all imaginable sizes. The other source is a transmission shop. Those guys also use a lot of Teflon seals.
