Plug for Blue Top steering

I ordered the steering box and lower steering column bearing from blue top last week. I haven't had a chance to put them in yet, but I just got to looking at the statement. Ryan credited me for the shipping charge of the bearing. Now, that's kind of a small thing, but I'm used to these places just accumulating all those individual shipping charges and keeping it. He just credited without me asking. That's great customer service. Much respect to Ryan, He's a good guy. He's the one who's putting these gear boxes together AND he takes the time to personally talk with you. I got another truck needing a gear box and I will buy from him again.

Ryan's a great guy! When I was in the market for a hydraulic ram for my highboy he spent 20min on the phone with me walking me thru his rebuild process step by step, Blue-Top will get all my future steering related business. If Ryan's excellent customer service isn't enough to sway you maybe his pricing is, it's typically 15-20% below that of Red-Head. I highly recommend Ryan and Blue-Top!

How much did you pay for the ram? I need to buy one or send mine in for rebuild this week.

The ram itself is $280 plus 2-way shipping. It's $150 (refundable) for the core charge, unless of course you send your own ram in for rebuild. I couldn't wait and just bought one already rebuilt.

Ryan machines new rods for each rebuilt cylinder and also machines the cylinder to accept TWO seals at the rod end. Much better design than the leaky factory cylinder.

If I remember correctly it was jakeharp who recommended Blue-top to me and I am thankful he did. I was prepared to buy a Lares Corp ram but after researching them I am grateful I didn't. Not only do their rams cost more than Ryan's they are also an inferior rebuild.

Were there only certain years that used a hydraulic ram? Or does it apply to all 4x4's (73-79)?

F100/150 4x4 switched over to the integral power steering gear in 76. Not sure about 250 & 350.

Good info right there. Didn't know this because I've never owned anything older than a 78.
