Guys... I have a 2018 F250 6.2 gas. 1700 Miles on it.
Unloaded, trans temp runs between 180-203.
Pulling our 7200 pound TT, temp settles in around 200-207
I realize all these temps are normal, but with the trans oil cooler installed, shouldn't these temps be lower?
My 2016 F150 ran the same temp without a cooler pulling the same trailer.
Thanks guys.... Sorry if a dumb question. Never had a trans cooler before.
No, they shouldn't be lower. There is a thermostat that keeps the transmission at those temperatures. The transmission is more efficient at higher temperatures. With higher efficiency, the truck gets better fuel economy, and fuel economy is king now.
Yes, you've had a trans cooler before. All automatic transmissions have transmission coolers.
Mind.... Blown.
So do cars and light trucks have in the tank coolers? Or so they have the small mini- radiators as well?
Man, what a nube! Thanks for all the info guys
Mark.... Thanks for all your info. I did read through that thread you posted . So it appears the radiator I am seeing in front, toward the top is the power steering fluid cooler.
Where then is the trans cooler on the 250?
And then, some folks add another (auxillary) trans cooler to their vehicles. This is an addition, obviously to the stock cooler, correct?

The Radiator, Condenser(AC) and Trans Cooler are configured in a pack with the Condenser and the Trans Cooler mounted directly in front of the Radiator. The Condenser (larger) is on bottom with the Trans Cooler (smaller) mounted above it. The power steering cooler is mounted out front of the Trans Cooler and can be seen directly below the Hood Latch assembly.
The Trans Cooler has 2 hose lines that go into the Passenger side tank of the radiator.
