CD-ERROR message

CD-ERROR message
2003 escape, cd6 player will not play or eject any discs, constantly get "cd-error" message. Have only commercial cd's installed. The fist pound on the dash used to work, but no longer. Could simply disconnecting, then reconnecting the battery work? Cheers.
