You've probably already considered this, but I was thinking about a new cam as well. I noticed that a lot of cams come as camshaft sets so there are new lifters. The reading that I did mentioned that many cams don't honor a warranty if you don't replace lifters, and considering how much they are and you're problem, new lifters are probably in order as well.
ya, I am going to buy a cam shaft kit, cam+lifters+lube. Holly makes a high performance one for $147. Or should I go stock? Thanks for all the replies, yall have all been a great help.
I was going to get a slightly hotter cam from melling, but came to the realization that I've got a tired engine with other problems. So I decided to back off on the cam for now til I got the engine running well.
Ya, I decided to go with a stock cam and lifters. Ordered it from O'reilly ($118) this afternoon, should be in tomorrow. Gonna have a lotta fun this weekend. Gotta case of natural light and whoohoo, high of 85 on saturday and only 79 on sunday, great workin of truck,/beerdrinkin weather
so your #2 cylinder is missing??? Have you checked between the #1 and #3 cylinders?? I cant find mine sometimes, but lo and behold, its always where I left it, straight across from #6!!!!
Well I thought it was funny......
new cam is installed. runs sweet. #2 cylinder is doing great. engine set to go about 100,000 more miles! The old cam was pathetic, the intake valve lobe for #2 was almost completely flat.
