Hello. Can a few people chime in and give me a center of hub to bottom of fender measurement for a factory front 3 leaf set up. My 79 is a 2 leaf and measures 21”. I’m hoping to get a couple inches of lift by buying new 3 leafs. Thanks
Following along. Not sure I've ever seen a factory three-leaf setup on the front of our trucks.
Even my F350 is a 2-leaf and stiff as a brick. But it is as light-duty as the 350's got too.
Hmm, I guess I'd better verify that. Been wrong before on just how my truck is set up!
I was reading another forum about a factory 3 leaf some time ago. I’ve never seen one myself. I ended up searching and found General spring has spring packs 43-464hd that say they’re for serial numbers after a certain amount. They’re 2750lb springs instead of the 2k. I’m guessing these are them but I have nothing to back this up.
My truck has the 3950 front GAWR, but I don't know what that equates to in spring rate.
Has two leaves and was built in July of '79, so fairly late in the run.
X2 on I have never seen of or hear of a OEM 3 leaf set up on the front of a 77 to 79 F250 4wd. All I have ever see is 2 leafs, 3" wide.
My red 79 and my silver 77 both 4wd F250 "lowboys" had only 2 leafs. The silver truck has 33x12.50x16.5 and it was tight when off roading, If I twisted it hard I could get a tire into a fender. I added some JC Whitney 80 dollar add-a leafs (one per side) and got about 1.5 worth of lift and a little better stance overall. Rides the same to me.
