Confirmation regarding tire size when using the leveling kit

I have gone through a lot of threads on here regarding the leveling kits and tires but just want confirmation before I purchase new tires that I won’t have any issues. It’s my understanding that I can run a 295/70 on my factory 18” Rims with no issues, right? I have a 2005 King Ranch SCrew with the RC 2.5” leveling kit installed right now and just want to fill the tire well without it scrubbing. I’m going with the Cooper STT Pro as my choice. Right now I’m running Toyo A/T Open Country in a 275/65. Can anything bigger be ran with the leveling kit or is the 295/70 the best option for me without doing a lift kit? Thanks in advance.

I have a 2.5" leveling kit, and I am running 275-70-18 General Grabber AT2. I am running aftermarket wheels that have an inch less of backspacing. (Rim sets out 1" further than stock).

Without that inch I think you would rub in tight radius turning maneuvers. That wouldn't bother me though........

My next set will be 35x12.50-18's.

Thanks for replying clintonvillian! I wanted to go with 35 x12.50 tires initially but was worried with the overlap on a 7.5” rim and the wear it would case. I went instead and ordered a set of Mastercraft Courser MXT since they are a division of Cooper Tires. They were priced on sale so I got them in the 295/70/18. They are going on my stock 18” rim so we’ll see how it does. I’m ok with trimming some if needed.

I have 35 12.50 18 tires on my '04 with a 2" leveling strut. Originally I installed the tire on OE '11 F150 wheels which are probably 7.5"-8" wide. I bought the set used with about 35,000 miles on them. The tires were worn a little weird but not too bad, and I'm not sure if it was the lack of rotation or the undersized rims that caused a little stair stepping. Honestly I thought they looked kinda dumb and bloated. They didn't rub on the fender at all, but they did rub on the upper control arm and would also hit the frame at full lock. I bought 18" x 9" wheels with a +18 offset which tucks the wheels pretty well. This improved the control arm and frame rub a little, but I had to trim a little fender flare a tiny bit at the rear bottom. I also poked holes in the inner fender and tied them back with cable ties and tied them to the body mounts. I'm really happy with how it fits and looks.

Thanks for the replies!!! Finally got my tires on today and I’m VERY pleased with the look and the new stance with the leveling kit!!! The 295/70 fit great with my 18” stock rim! Next weekend is tint for the front windows and eventually a new exhaust. Happy Mama here!
