I have a 2007 F150 FX4 it has stock 20s on it and I want to take them down to a 17" wheel. I think that I need a 2.5" leveling kit. If I go with this kit is it going to be too hard on my truck and what is the largest tire I can go with? Thanks ahead of time for your input.
2.5" kit is not hard on ur truck. it will set it dead even with the rear. Tire size really depends on the wheel. When i had 17x9 inch wheels with -12 offset my 33's rubbed the plastic valance under the bumper. Just barely but it did. With my current wheels 17x8 with +12 offset there is zero rubbing. So basically like i said rubbing depends alot on what wheels you get.
I have 17x9 inch rims dont know the offest but they are Mickey Thompson Classic II's and they are the only size they make for are trucks. I never had a problem with rubbing on stock height. I had 33/12.50/17 tires. I then put a 3 inch leveling kit on so I can clear 35's at a later time. 3 inch is pushing it for a leveling kit. It puts the CV shaft at a pretty good angle but I never had a problem. Dont look like much bigger of an angle than the 2.5 inch. I had to add an add a leaf in the back but thats what I wanted.
Thanks for the help. But a couple more questions. So if I go with a 285/ 70/17 should I be ok? I am looking for the tires to sit a little wide on the truck. Sorry so many questions I am new with the whole tire thing.
Thanks for the props Gearbanger 101.
Actually I like pics # 1 & 2 but I don't know about pic # 3? I'd like to stuff some 35s under it for a beefier looking side view.33s look kind of small on these trucks.
