I'm looking at purchasing a 1976 F-150 Ranger in the near future and have been researching some of the items I would want to fix on the truck. One part I can't seem to find or search for correctly is the square fuel door for one of the gas tanks. Below is a picture of the damaged one. Anyone know where I can find a replacement?
Those are the aluminum fuel doors used on the dealer installed saddle tanks. Depending on your local junk yards it should be an easy score at the bone yard. I am not aware of any available in the aftermarket.
I was going to say that looks to be an add on fuel filler and door.
I am not up on your year truck did they come from the factory with duel tanks?
If so you could get another bedside and hang that on but a lot of work just for that.
I would look for a section of the rear cap area, I see it is set back in from the outer panel, and weld it in place on the front.
Now part of the fix would be to see if I can get it up level with the rear fuel filler to look right. To do this you may have to rework the filler hose & neck on the back side.
Yep weld in a rear section on the front, finish it with paint and you would never know it was added on after it left the factory.

This aluminum door is for an aftermarket mid-ship fuel tank. ALL 1973/76 Stylesides have exposed mid-ship and aft axle fuel caps.
1977/79's Stylesides with factory installed mid-ship/aft axle fuel tanks have fuel doors, but they are steel and painted body color and are the same as 1974/79 Lincoln Continental Mark IV/V.
X2 on dealership/aftermarket fuel door. And I am sure that is not a part to be located. You might have better luck to take the outer frame off and take it to a local fab/metal/welding shop and get one made.
Then you have to locate the inner plastic cup part.
rdrc that RV access door link is the best for bolt and go IMO.
laser if you just drill the lock out (to get the door open) and get a replacement lock for a common cross bed tool box 9easy to install) you should be ok.
