Hi all,
Has anyone got any idea how the feds new GST regulations will affect us buying parts from the USA?
Because of the greed inspired lobbying of multi-millionare Gerry Harvey and his mates there is now GST payable
on all overseas purchases, not just those over $1,000.
The idiot government also expects the sellers to collect the tax.
Amazon has told them that if they want tax they can collect it themselves. This means that Amazon now will not
sell to Australia, we can only use the Australian Amazon site, with a very limited range of products.
I am worried that all the various parts companies that we buy from will take the same approach as Amazon, one I can
fully undertand.
I doubt it's going to make any difference to most automotive parts suppliers, they only have to collect GST if they sell more than AUD$75,000/year to Australian customers. If all their Australian customers combined buy less than the AUD$75,000 a year, then nothing changes for them.
I've been buying stuff out of the states & nothing has changed. Kept my orders to under a grand each time. Exchange rate has hit a bit but still a *****load cheaper than locally sourced parts !
