Huh? With zero power on yours folds? You can walk up to the truck, open the door and fold them with the key in?
My 15 has to have the key in the accessory position in order for them to fold which is basically what the OP is saying on his truck. Accessory mode on or vehicle running for them to work.
Don't even need the key. It does need the ignition on to extend or retract the mirrors but not to fold, unfold them.
So… With my limited electrical knowledge… Is it possible to just compare the wiring harness diagram for the door between 17 and 18 trucks to figure out which wire is hot all the time on the 18s and only hot with the ignition on in the 17s, and then run the 17s wire to something that is always hot?
My folding mirrors will not work unless the key is on (I have push button start). Is this the way things are? Even my wife's Kia allows me to fold the mirrors after I turn off the car. Is there a way to fix this?
In my opinion, another thing someone in an office designed versus someone out there in the real world.
working as designed - power must be own, but truck doesnt have to be running.
doesnt take long to remember - turn truck off...fold mirrors BEFORE anyone opens a door.
you can make them auto fold (Lincoln style) by changing a pin & using ForeScan software.
My '17 requires ignition to be on to fold mirrors. From the responses herein, looks like the 17's need power, and the 18's can fold anytime. There must be a way to enable this for the '17 MY!! It's a huge pet peeve.
I wish I spoke whatever language it is you are speaking
you can start by familiarizing yourself with ForeScan Software - its free, runs on any windows laptop and allows you to make several changes to your truck

I'll check it out. I don't own a windows machine. Our COO moved the entire company to MAC 5 years ago. He even took away my beloved Nexus 4 and handed me an iPhone. After 5 years, I have been assimilated.
