i have a 1993 ford f250 4x4 with a 351 auto trans. the starter sometimes keeps running even after the engine starts and keeps runnjng when i shut off the key.i have replaced the ignition switch, the starter relay on the fender .the starter spins over beautifully.battery is 3yrs old.im stumped.new ford parts too.not aftermarket.HELP PLEASE....thanks,dan
I had the same thing happen years ago. The starter relay's contacts were spot welding themselves together. I changed mine and problem solved.
You say that you have changed yours so this confuses me. Either you replaced it with a defective one or something else is applying voltage to the relay energizing it. If possable, The next time this happens quickly remove either of the small wires that are on the relay. If it continues cranking over then the relay's contacts are welded and it needs replacement.
If it stops cranking then you have to find what is suppling the voltage when it shouldn't be. Easyer said than done!
