Intake boot

I got my KC turbo Friday and it came with a new boot since it has a 4” intake. I understand installing the turbo, for the 3rd time in a year but I’m kinda stumped on the boot. I know it might be a challenge without a pic right now but there is a tube coming off of the boot. It’s not very big around and has less than a 1/4” inside diameter. What is it and where does it go? I’m wanting to install the turbo tomorrow so print help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure what the port is for, but is this what you are looking at? If so, perhaps someone with first hand experience with any KC turbo can chime in.

Yes that’s the bit. Ive been looking and KC has them and anyone else that sells a 38r with an upgraded intake seems to offer the same boot. None of the sites that sell it say anything other than what turbo it fits and that it’s a 4” inlet

If I'm not mistaken that's where the green map sensor tube goes.

You probably are correct. I never climbed up to see what all is around the intake, just did and yep there’s a green tube going into the factory intake and it appears about the right size for the new intake. I shoulda looked closer first I guess

No worries, glad we were able to help you get pointed in the right direction. Post back with your opinion on the turbo and if your EGT's have changed at all, especially if you tow heavy.

I will be sure to report back. In addition to the turbo I plan on getting a hydra soon. Ive got a DP now and can reach 1000 degree EGT empty. I apparently had an exhaust leak and the turbo buggered up. I’m hoping the upgraded turbo and chip will vastly improve the truck

It should be night and day. Like to here what you think also. Especially towing.

I had a 63mm 38r on for almost a year when a bearing messed up I think, sent it in for warranty and got an upgraded one back. I liked it before, the only thing I didn’t car for was my tunes I ran. When I get the hydra I’m hoping it performs how I want. The heaviest I’ve towed it’s it is only 7k maybe so I won’t have much input there unless I find something big to hook to

Seems good. Haven't had any problems. Going on vacation soon, so we'll see how it does. About 4 to 5K miles worth. I did notice so fluid on the back bolts, can,t see where it came from. Might have to go back for that.

Very early update on the 63mm 38R. Compared to stock it is obviously a lot better. Compared to the 38R that it replaced it is still better. The only difference I am aware of is the 4” intake on the new one vs 3” on the previous. It spools sooner/ easier it seems and my EGTs don’t climb as fast. I wasn’t told i had a slight exhaust leak on the previous but don’t know if it was drive exhaust or the down pipe. I haven’t tried it in my usual daily driving manners but i believe it will work great. I don’t know what the boost will get to, I don’t have a fooler installed and my gauge isn’t hooked up at the moment so I couldn’t tell if i wanted to. As soon as i get my hydra and my gauge hooked back up i will report back as well as next time I’m hooked to a trailer of any decent size. I can hear it whine more when its spooled up and it sounds good when it spools up from idle.

Get a fooler. You will damage your map if you don't. And this will hurt your performance also!
