Found this wedged in the underside of the seat... never noticed a hole that it should cover. . What and where does it go? Thanks in advance

Does it match the paint on your truck? Or might it just be a part from something else that ended up under there?

Do you have an automatic? It looks like the firewall cover/plug for the clutch if you don't have a manual transmission.

Looks like what I routed some of the wiring for my gauges through into the cab.

I thought that my firewall plug was flat and plastic. What would be curved like that? Could it be a tunnel plug for where a handshaker might stick up through the tunnel?

Might be. I haven't had any need to pull up my carpet so have no idea what's on the tunnel.

The floor comes up at an angle behind the pedals then goes vertical somewhere around the top of the pedal shafts (give or take). That could be the bend for the plug. I know mine is at the top of the carpet/insulation where it goes to bare metal.

The easiest way to check is to just look up under the dash on the firewall to see if there's a missing plug.

Nope its manual trans. Clean fresh interior paint on the concave side and exposed and weathered paint on the convex side. I just spent a half hour crawling around on my back with a flash light... no holes that I can find to match. Is there a access panel between the tank and bed for some reason?

Looks like the manual shift lever 4x4 cover for the tunnel. You have esof. close your eyes and probe your carpet.

Well, to me it looks like exterior type of dirt splash on the cover itself, and the two bolts look like exterior engine bay/trans tunnel dirty grease.

You know what would crack me up? Us "experts" are all sitting here guessing what it can fit on a a '99-'03 SD, and for all we know - the PO left it in there after removing it from a '97 Buick.

I might go out and poke around on my truck later if I have the time, I'm curious now.
