I'm still going over my new to me 2006 F350 4x4. I got my Edge CS2 today and set it up so I could check the basics. I have a 30 mile commute to work most of which is interstate. It was in the mid 90's today and I had a good 75 mph run all the way. The ECT was right where it should be, 185-195. The EOT was up around 240-243. Is this an indication of a plugged oil cooler? If so, does the coolant flush help clean it out or is replacement in my future? And just for additional info, it appears that the radiator and hoses are new.
If you can verify that the temperature readings are accurate, then I would say that you do have a clogged oil cooler.
Thanks for the reply. I've read your previous posts about temps and measurements. I'll monitor the temps from cold start tonight when I leave work. Don't really know how to read temps other than the CS2.
Thanks,
Scott
Reading them when cold is one test. You can also switch the sensors since they are the same part (EOT and ECT are the same sensor). If they give the same results when switched, you can be fairly confident in their validity.

If verified, yes

A coolant flush does "help"........You may want to do it before replacing the cooler though or you could be plugging the new one too.
Just had mine replaced last week- that’s about where my temps were as well with no load. It was about completely clogged. Had my head gaskets and studs done at the same time just in case- turns out the gaskets had failed but I really didn’t have much of an indicator. If you can afford it it’s worthwhile since it’ll save some money in labor in the long run.
Thanks for the replies! Last night it had cooled off to around 70 and was raining. I was running about 70 the entire 30 miles. ECT never got over 175 and EOT was still about 50* higher. I'll swap the sensors this weekend and run it again. If it does prove to be accurate I'll flush the system and replace the cooler. I'll up date this thread as I go.
