I have a 2018 F-250. Anyone having a problem with the step not popping out when the button is pushed? Took it to ford and they said the step comes from the manufacturer, and is on back order. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Might I suggest giving it a shot of Liquid Wrench spray lithium lube? Good ole' WD-40 will also work but not as long lasting.
Open & close it a few times to distribute the lube. Once it pops fully open then spray all the other hinge & pivot points on the step & handle.
When you're done w/ that, just for grins shoot a little spray into the ends of the tailgate hinges to ensure the gate drops smoothly as well.

My step is doing the opposite. The grab handle will not stay closed and wants to stay out. My dealer ordered a new step assembly, said they had to order whole assembly and not parts. Mine was ordered last Wed. and came in Monday. I go tomorrow to get it installed. I don't know where your dealer got it is on backorder.
Same here, my 2017 F250 tailgate step hasn't ever failed to pop out and my truck sits outside not in a garage. I love that thing, makes it so much easier to climb into the bed.
How much is it suppose to come out when you press it? I press mine and it pops out about 2”, enough to get my fingers behind and then pull it out. I have only had the truck 2 weeks, so it seemed normal. It is sounding like it should extend out all the way?
I've had no problems with mine (2017) which I use fairly frequently. I would suggest *firmly* pressing the button to get the step to pop out.
You mean you have to preform a mechanical action in order to have a reaction? No electric motor or solenoid that you request to preform the (and quite tedious I might add) action?? No processor to take the input and decide wither or not it should allow the output to occur?? The horror, next thing you will want me to do is leave the driver's seat to open the tailgate. That is it, I'm cancelling my order and going to Fiat!!
