Stock '02 Excursion, using a scanner to see the boost though the OBD2 port. I get right about 15lbs. in totally stock condition. With the muffler disconnected at the factory slip joint it comes up to about 16.5 lbs. I borrowed my friend's Super Chips 1705 and on the highest setting I get about 20lbs with the muffler and 20.5 without. Cruising at 70 MPH, 2,000RPM I see about 2 PSI. I did all the tests with the wastegate hose connected, disconnected, then strapped closed with safety wire and there were no changes. Up-pipes look pretty clean for a 425K mile truck, just mild residue of black around the joints. All the air boot clamps are tight and no apparent holes.
From what I've read my boost seems low, especially with the tuner on it and the wastegate locked. It makes good power, but trying to figure out if something's wrong.
You can search the forum for a boost leak detector, and my up pipes have zero soot, as does everything else under the hood.
You appear to be just fine for those miles and stock parts (including airbox). A 4" exhaust and a Ford AIS intake will get you where you want to go. If you have future plans for bigger injectors or turbo, then you'll need a bigger intake than the AIS, I went with S&B.
