Got hit with a hail storm today and my truck was a sitting duck. Looks like the hood took the brunt of it but the roof and my topper look fine. I'd estimate about 15-25 decent dings on the hood, a couple of them quarter-sized.
Has anyone gotten PDR on one of these aluminum hoods or am I looking at a complete replacement?

Sorry to hear about your truck! Hail is something in the back of my mind, seeing as how the truck won't fit in the garage. There was a thread on here in the last few weeks that covered this exact topic (use search). I believe the takeaway was that as long as you go with a body shop certified to repair aluminum, you'll be fine. Body shops have been repairing aluminum body panels for far longer than the Alumiduty has been out. A few folks chimed in that their hail repair turned out perfect and you couldn't even tell the damage had ever been done. Good luck!
Mine got hit last year while driving through Iowa. 85 dents in the hood alone and more over the truck. Tonneau and car trailer were totalled. ALL repaired with PDR and I can't tell!
One of our Rv forum members got caught in a hail stor in their TT in Colorado this week, they said the insurance may total both vehicles, trailer has atleast 4 roof penetrations, all the windows are blown on their tv, lots of dents. They siad it was 3" hail for an hour., ironically the lexan windshield on the tt didnt even crack.
I got hit in Fort Collins yesterday too. Have about 20 dents I can see. Not sure if I should get it fixed right away or wait until hail season is over. Also wondering if the dealer body shop would be better than a regular body shop.
How the hell did the truck catch on fire? The aluminum and magnesium in these new trucks burns like mad, crazy to see the aftermath.
To all of you guys suffering this hail in Texas and Colorado, I feel for y'all. I hope you guys get ahold of some good PDR and get your trucks back on the road ASAP.
My other question is if I go through insurance and to a body shop, are they likely to use pdr or conventional dent removal techniques? Is pdr cheaper and a better option if I want to leave insurance out of this (or is it likely to be well over my $1000 deductible anyways)?

Yes PDR works just fine. I had mine hit last year with much bigger hail than any of the pictures in this thread. The hood however was so bad, they just replaced it. All other panels were fixed via PDR and you would never know it.
