I'm currently putting parts together for a 410 to put in a 73 HighBoy. I have a 352 block that I've had bored to 4.050 ready to go. I just want to make sure everything I have is going to work and double check my math.
That combo should put me at 10.142", so .028" below deck.
With Cometic 0.080 head gaskets and Edelbrock RPM Heads, I should be running about 9.5 to 1 compression.
Also, what cam profile and carb would you guys suggest? Any input would be much appreciated.
It will be a daily driver/weekend warrior. No towing save a 10 foot smoker. No racing save red light to red light. Something that’s somewhat drivable on the street but can pack a punch when you push the go pedal. Emphasis on torque.
I am a fan of lunati cams ,made in the USA! the 62002 would probably get you in the 500hp/500tq area .
what intake ,carb and exhaust you going to run? i'll do a Desktop dyno of your specs .
The 62002 makes more power and torque up to 4000 rpm than the 62003
The average driver won't notice the extra 18 hp at 5000 rpm, but they would notice that extra 20+ lb ft torque from idle to 2500 rpm where they would spend a lot of time at
Run a sim with the 62001 cam and see if it gets the numbers down into a more useable rpm range, I've won a lot of races on the hole shot.
here's the 62001 run
i have the 62001 in my 390 it runs strong but doesn't have much of a choppy idle . If i were to do it again i would go with the 62002
Looks like the 62001 gives up a good bit on top without much gain down low.
I'm surprised there's that much difference.
Just for comparison would you run Lunati's 10503 cam, that's their version of the factory 428CJ cam
It should give one a good base line to compare other cams to.
