6L No boost
New problem as of this weekend, returning from the river, (10 miles from my home), pulling up a grade, large “pop”, and boost went from 27 PSI to 0, and brief, (less than on second), puff of white smoke or steam from under the hood. At this time, EOT was 230, and ECT was 210, (big load on truck pulling up this grade, normal for deltas to increase, and recover at the top.
I was able to limp home, but buy the time I reached the top of the grade, ECT reached 235.
Once on top, quickly returned to the 20 – 210 range, my house was two miles away, so I limped home, with no boost, but everything else seemed fine, (obviously very low power without turbo).
When I got home, I checked under hood, and found smoke / steam was from degass bottle, but turbo and boots seemed fine,
Only code was p0478. I have cleared it, and it has not come back.
After truck cooled down, I pulled outlet boots on turbo, and inlet boot on intercooled, (Blue Boots) did not find anything obvious.
I proceeded to check Map Sensors, all looks well, and when set to CTS for monitoring, its @14.5,
Removed and cleaned EBP SENSOR, and pipe, (was not plugged, at all),
FICM voltage is 49.5 on CTS
Have not found anything, so I re-assembled and tested, still no boost, low power.
Vehicle details
2006 F350 w 6L I have Edge CTS used for monitoring only, no programing, (tune done with SCT tuner)
Work done to the truck previously
2012 EOT vs ECT deltas ~20 degrees
Coolant flush with restore, followed by restore plus
EGR delete, blue spring, HPOP, turbo oil return, thermostat, ELc coolant, coolant filter, oil cooler, SCT tune, (Standard 5 no customer tune, only use street and towing 65 HP)
Shortly after above, FICM failed, had redone a FICM repair.com and new batteries
2018 new batteries again, but no FICM issue this time
Any advise helps
How close did you check the intercooler? May have blown out a seam
I'm more curious with the ECT at 235 how hot did the oil get?
The fan should have been screaming long before that temp was reached.
