That's a question I've been wondering about. I have a bell housing in my parts pile that looks to line up with the 292. Not sure as it's on the engine stand and I can't tell if it's the right fit. I also have the 223 6-cylinder that's still connected. Look forward to knowing if the 223 will work with the 292. That would be a simple swap! Thank you for the question and I look forward to any responses.

I have done a few of these swaps and another thing is the truck wiring harness is different between a 6cyl truck and a V8 truck
The 6 cyl has the Gen and regulator on the drivers side and the V8 its on the pass side. When I would do these I'd just leave the regulator on the drivers inner fender and run the wires from the reg to the gen across the crossmember rather than monkey with the truck harness
If you are going with the 4 bolt 2V carb or the 4V carb the 6 cyl linkage will work. If you plan on using the 3 bolt style carb you will have to find V8 linkage
Thanks for the pic. That looks so cool! I've read that the ram horns have a great sound. Some video I watched said the old F700 school buses were outfitted with them. Speedway has aftermarket's for $389. I may end up selling my truck crossover version on eBay and going the Speedway route. Thanks again for the pic's. Learning so much!
Be careful if you buy used ramshorns. The ramhorns from 53 to 56 Big Job trucks do not fit. To fit F100 yblocks all mounting holes must be in a straight line. There is a pair on ebay now that are from a 53 to 56 truck and the end bolt holes are higher than the rest.
So I've been accumulating parts to finish the 292 build. It's a 58/59 block EDB-E. I have a question about the harmonic balancer. I bought a replacement Dorman PB1199N. The available crankshaft end from the engine cover out is 2" yet the Dorman has a 3-1/4" sleeve to slide on the crankshaft and key. Shouldn't the dampener sleeve for the crankshaft be the same length as what's available from the engine cover to the end where the bolt and washer hold it in place? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you
