Jack, just for your info I have run the PF Carbon Metalic on my '03. My truck had a very poor life span on even the OEM severe duty pads, the PF seemed to work much better and instead of 20-30K on friction material the PF pads had almost 40K when I got smart and converted my 15K 5'R to disc brakes. Now the PF pads have an additional 35K on them, I think I will need to replace them this fall but they have performed much better than anything else I have tried. Hawk LTS on my cousins truck are performing about the same it seems, although he doesn't tow as heavy as I do.

I just searched through all the latent reports I have and found only my summaries. The Z pads were better in life and high temp then the CM. The CM target was police CV, the Z pickups and vans with higher weight. The Z were also used in the E150's in the 90's time frame. There was some major rework done on the Motorcraft Super Duty lineup and for a while the only difference between the regular Motorcraft and Super Duty was high temp noise insulators. Some of that may be dependent on when you used them. As mentioned before, aftermarket formulations change.

In the 2002 and up timeframe the Z pads was all I was recommending over on TDS, including over the OE. I ran them maybe 80-100k, and I think I changed out because the noise insulators were so rusty that I wasn't getting clearance pad to rotor. That was my first set of LTS and the insulators rust more then the ones on the PF pads. Maybe my next set I'll try the Zs if they are out there instead of the Motorcraft. They were more stable in friction over the temp range then LTS and you're right, really good wear life at work. The Superduty OE platform wear life under commercial use was 25-30k. Actually just about everything is.

God I miss what I used to do.
