I have tried mothballs before; I put them on a tin pie plate on the floor. The smell would knock a sick(gotta keep it clean )guy off a gut wagon .
Didn't keep the mice out either .
Irish Spring, huh? I will try it and see .
Was cleaning up some oil spots on the shop floor with Simple Green, pored some in a jar lip and was using a old paint brush to scrub with, coated the spot and left the lid sitting there, (started learning how to run this blasted comp.) forgot about it, came out the next day and found several dead mice around the jar lid. I have not used anything prior to that, seemed to work via the dead ones lying there.
Might try that,
Thanks, Don.
From: I'm lost somewhere in NJ -- can someone please find me?!?!?!?
Sometimes rodents don't like a specific bait, get immune by only eating a tiny amount, or are otherwise able to service in a baited environment. That's why when I bait, I put at least 3 different brands/styles of bait out there. Last time I had a rodent issue was when dad left out a bar of chocolate on the kitchen counter at the vacation house. Came back 3 weeks later and found mouse droppings here & there... not a major deal, nowhere near an infestation, but to a neat-freak like my mother, it seemed like the end of the world.
I attacked the house -- sprayed the foundation & crawlspace, put bait all inside the house, in the crawlspace, and anywere else that is not physically "outside". I figure outside is theirs, but inside is mine! As long as they don't trespass, they survive. Now I maintain a constant supply of fresh bait -- throw out the old stuff & replace twice a year (same time that I spray the crawlspace & house for insects). I hate creep crawly things.
FWIW, I was talking to a pest control guy at work one day, and he said spiders are the toughest to get rid of. Apparently, spiders are the only critter that most places won't guarantee success.
My wife and stepkids are freaky about spiders too. Our last house had holes in the sheet rock from them slamming a boot against some real or imagined spider.
nvreloader you may be on to something with the simple green. It is amazing they died right there. Either it works really fast or they were partying down on the stuff.
I am now armed with Irish Spring bar soap and Simple Green
I will add that to the truck, good point Haroutd! I don't want him to get too comfortable .
Spiders, they can be a PITA, but I pretty well have their #. I have only seen one inside the truck and it was just a "daddy-longlegs" spider, so no big.
The Black Widows are usually underneath the truck, when I get them.
Well, after pulling the seat out (after deciding the mouse was holed up behind the gas tank) I removed all attaching hardware, including the wiring, pick-up tube and inlet hose/pipe.
As I was sliding it out it dawned on me: I still had a full tank!! .
I muscled it out anyway and dumped it into 5gal. cans.
I did find a small nest behind the gas tank, right in the center.
No, no mouse or dead body..................
I will leave everything out for a few days and see what gives........
Now that the gas tank is out, I am going to suffer from the "might as well" syndrome.......wait, time to start another thread!!
