i've got to pull my engine and do the oil pan in the next few weeks. i figured i'll do some maintenance while i'm at it
i was thinking about the following, but please let me know what else i should take care of
- up pipes
- remove exhaust headers / manifolds, blast / paint with new exhaust bolts and gaskets
- check and possibly replace motor mounts
- check valve cover gaskets
Reseal everything that you don't want to work on later when it's back in the truck. Primarily the stuff at the rear like the turbo pedestal, rear head plugs, rear main seal, fuel line at the rear, etc. I'd be tempted to do injector seals & cups and also the oil cooler.
IDK why the belt tensioner would even be mentioned. Sure, it's easier on a stand, but not a big deal in the truck.
