That looks like the piston scuffing the cylinder wall because the clearance was too tight. The right way to correct that is to have it bored and honed again to the right clearances.
If thats the E0AE block you have, youre playing with fire trying to use it. In another thread you mention it coming from a 79. If it is and its a D8VE casting then you could bore it another .020, depending on core shift. And if it has the A3A suffix, then I would seriously look into that as this casting had the hi-po main caps

we keep running into each other on this forum!! Trashed that block. Dead, kill it, make some art out of it, no worries. Told you a few days ago about picking up the ready to go block for good money spent. Super excited about the build now that the block is figured out. Took your advise about the head gaskets and purchased the correct ones from summit - I believe you were worried about deck hight on an 85 block that’s been worked over. Hopefully start assembly over the 4th.

once again, I know 85 block isnt the greatest. I feel like we should exchange email addresses and eliminate the middle man! Lol!
