302 Noise Solved
After tearing my fresh built motor completely down the only thing I found was the timing chain looked like it had 200 thousand miles on it it was stretched out so much. It was not hitting anything so it must have just been the chain slap noise. This engine has only had 6 or 7 gallons of gas run through just sitting in the chassis. I sent the timing set back to Edelbrock last month and have not heard anything back. I purchased the Cloyes heavy duty set and it had slack in it when installed. I returned it. I called Cloyes and explained what I found with there heavy duty set and was told that was normal for that set. I ask if they had a better set and was given two more part numbers and I ordered the street true roller set and it fit nice and snug. Better quality chain. So far no more noise coming from the motor.
