So, heading out for the weekend and Truck starts acting up bad. Slamming into gear from 2-3 and 4-5 Really bad (ive had this for a while and even took it in before Warrenty was up and was told CANT DUPLICATE). Anyway now truck vibrating like on a vibrating easy chair so I turn around to head home. No power up hills. Like 20mph at best. Temps all normal boost 15. Get near the house and last hill was 1mph max. get trailer backed in and truck starts massivly shuttering and I pop in neutral and it quits. Unlatch trailer and unhook trailer cable and hit reverse and it backs normal. Pull it away in drive not massive shutter just a little vibration. Park it and call AAA. Took it to the Ford Dealer (differnt than I bought because the one I got it from was sold out and claims they dont know me, even though Ive seen the same service manager). I took it in after Warranty for the same slam problem and they said flush system and charged me for it. It came back about 2 months ago
Anyway. Dealer cant get to it till next week. I showed them the write up from when it was in warranty and they told me to take it up with Ford.
So any ideas what Im looking at and if it is Tranny any chance Ford will help me out since I took it in before Warranty
Dealer just called, Lots of parts in tranny pan. Rebuilt. 6138.00 to replace with Rebuilt not done by ford. 6800 for one built by Ford but is 90 days out.
Soo, Saga part 2. Dealer Service lady gave me Ford Customer Care number and I called and explained what happend, and that I had it in 3 times for slam shifting before Warranty was up. It was some dude in the Philippines and he said he escalated it up as a repair assist. He gave me a Case Number. It seems the Dealer Service Manager is the reviewer. Talked to my Service lady and gave her the Case Number. She told me she will actually do the review and send it in. If Ford assists I am required to use the Ford Reman. Of course Im responsible for the Knock Sensor.
Good thing nobody will be taking my blood pressure anytime soon.
Im also not holding out any hope that Ford will care and assist me.
Good luck with your case and I hope Ford helps out. Here on FTE, long history of Ford not jumping in. I share your dim outlook on the prospects.
So glad that I purchased ESP coverage. Broken trucks take lots of cash to get back on the road. My dealer told me that my leaky radiator would have cost $1,800 had I not had ESP coverage.
yes they at least helped. She told me that the 3 before received nothing, one with only 60k on Transmission, but past the years. Nice thing is, they are allowing her to order from a supplier rather than Ford. If we waited for a Ford Reman, it would be October 1st.
I didnt know the Torq Converter was internal, I asked about the condition of the Converter and that is when she told me they were internal.
It doesn't appear to be internal. This ad says for 6.2, but it's the same transmission for Diesel in those years. I have also seen YouTube videos of one being torn down that would also suggest it is a separate piece. https://www.ebay.com/i/332661530842?chn=ps
