I checked into getting my head's o-ringed when I had them off to do my ARP head studs. It was all over the place.....but on average you should be able to get a set of heads o-ringed for $200-$400. Or, if you get your heads checked out and they are cracked and need to be replaced (or they are warped bad and can't machined flat)....most aftermarket cylinder head places will o-rings them from the get go, or only charge a small fee to do it.
After talking to several of the performance diesel shops in my area, I decided against it. Not because it doesn't work (because it does), but every single shop told me that as long as you use good gaskets (fel-pro), ARP studs (that are installed and torqued correctly) and prep the heads and the block correctly......I won't have any problems at all. They all said that unless I'm running a super hot tunes and racing/pulling with the truck....spending the money to have the heads o-ringed is a waste of money.
Now if my were cracked and needed to be replaced, would I buy heads that were o-ringed? You bet! Why not if the cost is about the same.
That's all great info! Thank you. If the cost is reasonable while the heads are off I'll go for it. I'm a big proponent on proactive maintenance but on a limited budget. We'll see.

That's crazy...you can get a complete brand new set of Kill Devil heads for $2,300 ready to go.....why would anyone pay $800 to have a set of old, wornout stock heads -oringed?
