Hi, I’m new to the 460 world and I have a new project in a 1983 f250 with a 460 and c6 tranny.
So I got the truck and it ran when parked a few months ago. I recently found there was a plate? below the carburetor missing on the passenger side so I blocked it off. Anyone know what that’s for? It has an Edelbrock carb on it, haven’t found what series yet. I tried to tune it and it ran good for a couple minutes then we took it for a short drive and it sputtered and ran like crud and backfired a lot. Any advice on tuning it, I only have a timing light no air fuel stuff or vacuum measurements. Thanks.
Just had the same exact problem. If its a hole in the intake passenger side right next to the carb, then yes, thats the EGR. Mine ran like crap and backfired through the carb and exhaust both when it was leaking. When I put the EGR back on it but not hooked up, just to keep it plugged, it ran great.
