If I am not mistaken the part-time t-case shifter pattern is (dash to seat) is 4LO-N-2HI-4HI....I am not familiar with the shift pattern on the full-time t-case.
My NP203 shift pattern looks nothing like a 205. First off, no 2HI as it was originally full time 4WD (mine has the part time conversion installed). Second, mine shifts in a funky C shape. I'm not sure if all 203's were like this.

Thats what mine looks like......... or did before i put a scantily clad lady shifter **** on... .

78 Ford truck, I bet a married NP205 xfer case. To 100% ID the xfer case get under there and look on the front of the case for a silver/blue tag.

ALL 1978/79 F150/250/Bronco & 1979/81 F350.
1973/77's used different T/C *****, Spicer/Dana **** (C6TZ-7213-A) different than New Process **** (B9TT-7213-J).
