Ran across this and was wondering what the wings represent. Can't make it out.

Aston Martin was sold by Ford in 2007 for a gazillion dollars.
Possibly why the company didn't need or want a government bailout back in those days???

Ok, I'll buy that. Thanks.

" Ford made an investment in Aston Martin in the late 1980s and acquired the company outright in 1991. Ford divested Aston Martin in 2007 in order to raise capital in advance of what Ford management (correctly) saw as a coming financial crisis. Aston Martin was part of Ford’s “Premier Automotive Group,” which also included Jaguar, Land Rover, and Volvo. As a result, the Aston DB7, Vanquish, and Virage, as well as the VH-platform cars (DB9/Vantage V8 and variants) share many parts with Jaguars and Volvos. There was also some parts-sharing with the European Ford Sierra, Mondeo, and Scorpio."

I have a buddy who is a super Volvo freak and even has a couple of very rare roadsters. Anyway, I sure like to give him a hard time about being a Ford man.....LOL

Failed to be mentioned was the sharing also found its way into the Lincoln LS and the Gen 11 T-Birds (Jag XK8), along with a bunch of trickle down engineering. Ford mostly sold off the PA Group to raise capital to re-tool for new models. They were already sweating the finances and had the good sense to realize tough times were around the corner.

Interestingly enough, it seems Ford is not yet done downsizing. They're axing production of all sedans in favor of SUV's.

They are also axing the CMAX which is what my wife has. We drove from Houston to New Braunfels about 385 miles round trip (to Gruene Hall, to see her brother play the base with Patty Griffin) and back on a tank of gas and still had a range of over 100 miles after we got back to Houston. She has been getting 51 MPG in that car! They evidently sell well in Europe but not here. Too bad, it is a really nice car.
