Installed new trans pan with oil drain plug. Dumped oil, put new pan on, drove in for a week. Dumped oil again, and also added a trans additive. I now have a real slight whine noise when I go from a dead stop. Don't hear it on the road. Is this something I should be concerned with?
Changed filter, and used the recommended Motorcraft juice, and along with the tube of trans additive. There was very little crud around the magnet on old pan, just some black film, no metal.
The whine is from the torque converter. What did you add? The only additive you should add is lubegard red. Anything else and you are up a creek. The mercon V is already highly fortified and you may have slippage.
A 10oz bottle of LubeGuard Red is what I added, in addition to the Mercon V. Have since drained 5 qts out and added more new, so it should be pretty clean. I've been pulling my boat, and haven't noticed anything unusual, except for the slight whine. Don't hear it at highway speeds. Shifting up and down is doing what it is supposed to. Guess I'll run it til it dies?
