How do I get my factory navigation to let me choose different routes? I've got it so I have fastest, shortest, and eco. But I have another route I would like to go.

There is no way to easily select another route. You could try “avoiding” certain key roads on a given route to force it to try other roads but there is no way to instruct it to use a particular road.
I just finished a 19,000 mile trip around the perimeter of the U.S. and used the nav system the whole way so I am pretty well versed on its capabilities.
Two ways; 1) Just head on the route you want to follow and let the nav readjust, and; 2) Instead of setting one start and end, set up for points along the way so you have multiple start and end points.
I use a Garmin in non-nav cars and it does some rather wonky routing in major cities, like Dallas, taking me on a route I know is nothing but trouble. As soon as I divert on the route I want to take, the Garmin recalculates on that route and all is well.
The surest method is to enter some waypoints along the route you want to travel. Don't trust it completely, mine often recalculates the route due to traffic. I'd sure like to know where there is enough traffic at 2AM on a Sunday morning to merit re-routing!
^^^ Yep! Add via points along the route to hit the roads/sites you desire. This navigation system has the same flaw as all my Garmin GPS units ... there's no option to avoid slums or high-crime areas.

I find the best way to avoid slums and high crime areas is to fly. But I always get a crying baby. Just can't wait.
I know on my Magellan I could do a "drive route" mode and edit/add way points along the route. Can you do this on our new navs. I didn't see this in the manual but the manual doesn't show everything.
