I have come across some rear end problems and will most likely need new gears. My Bronco has a 460 / C-6 and 3.50 gears and 32" BFG A/T's. I also have the Roadmaster Active rear suspension kit on my truck. I currently only tow a snowmobile trailer in the winter and occasionally a 15 foot camper in the summer.
Eventually I plan on towing a 26 foot camper and maybe even a car trailer with my beater Bronco.
So since my rear end problems may require a rebuild I was thinking of going with 4.10 gears. With the 460 the truck tows pretty good now...
I'd definitely go for that swap. You will have to keep an eye on your highway speeds just a touch, but you'll move a whole lot of weight easily.
You'll have to change carriers if you are running the nine inch, so think about what you want for the rear. Fully locked rears are not recommended (nor fun) for towing, since they don't want to unlock for cornering. But, you can put a limited slip (TrakLok) back there inexpensive, and if you add a drain plug and change the oil regularly, it should last a long while.
Car trailer is usually only about 16 feet long with two axles, one of them with brakes, so that would be okay. But, a 26 foot camper trailer with a Bronco that has a 98 (?) inch wheelbase?
Does not seem to be the most stable combination you could choose, the camper is almost twice as long as the Bronco (15 feet if I remember the measurements on my 85). I would think about that one in a cross wind.
