Engine swap 2003 into 1998

How hard is it and what will need changed to swap a 2003 5.4 into a 1998 F150 that has a blown 5.4 ? Newer engine is complete fan to flywheel. And will I need to do anything with ECM ?

Should be a direct swap. Use all the stuff that came off the old motor; ie the coil packs and wires. You’ll have to get the ECM tuned as the old motor is a non-pi and the new one is pi.

What if I can get the ECM with the donor engine? Will it plug into the 98 harness and which sensors if any should I be worried about swapping as well ?

Get the harness also. Your harness won’t support the cops. Also the the newer truck probably has PATS and I don’t think yours does, that will be a whole other can of worms. It’s just easier to have a tuner adjust your ECM.
