Lincoln 460 Same as f250 460?

When I bought the truck off previous owner (86 F 250). He told me the motor was out of a 76 Lincoln. I have the motor torn apart and at machine shop to be gone over and im trying to clean up the look of it. whoever put it in the truck cobbed the belts? pulleys together I don't believe they are all matching as it seems the belt is larger than power steering pulley etc. and From what I can tell the truck originally had a flat belt? BUt what im wondering is if I could install the correct pulleys etc on the current motor to match the originals on the truck

1971/78 and some 1979 460's are internal balance. The block casting number is D1VE-6015-AB or A1B or A2B

Mid-year 1979: FoMoCo changed the 460, it's external balance, has a weighted crank spacer. Block casting number is: D9TE-6015-AB thru 1997.

This does not affect Passenger Cars, because 1978 was the last year they were available w/a 460.

If the Lincoln had Hydro-Boost, it used the Saginaw P/S pump that resembles a "canned ham."

here’s a pic of the current pump. I’d still like to know if the brackets etc would mount up from the 460 off the truck to the current 460 out of the Lincoln. Because also think the alternator is out of the Lincoln as there a different connector spliced onto the original truck wiring for the alternator

The guy also had something done to the crank in the motor when he converted it to a 5 speed but I can’t remember what he said but it had to do with the balancing

I cannot make out what the pump is, it sorta looks like the C-II version, but...

Upper pic: Ford/Thompson "pencil neck" P/S pump, has a steel reservoir. The P/S pressure hose threads onto the pump.

1967/77 FoMoCo Passenger Cars (except 1972/77's with Hydro-Boost); 1967/77 F100/250; 1969/77 F350; 1973/74 Econoline; 1973/77 Bronco.
----------
Lower pic: Ford C-II P/S pump, has a plastic reservoir. The P/S pressure hose attaches to the pump w/a qwik connect fitting.

1978/79 Passenger Cars (except with Hydro-Boost); F100/350 & Bronco.

Verify it's steel. You cannot 'guess' with FoMoCo parts.

I had to replace the power steering pump on my 1981 M-block 400, but the pump installation in my truck was PO-installed from a 1970s sedan - what Bill called a pencil-neck-type of pump (+ related sedan bracketry).

Trying to find the pencil-neck pump locally - even EXPLAIN it - was difficult! So I converted over to a pump like I see above - with the golf-ball-sized filler neck and that uses a different hose connection.

It can be made to work but is suboptimal, there's nothing in the rear holding the thing up anymore but it's only plastic back there so I'm not real concerned.

But I'd venture to guess yours also originally had the pencil-neck thing from the factory... just a hunch...
