I know this is a topic that has likely been beaten up, but this one has a slight twist to the problem.
So, the story goes...
2001 Expedition Eddie edition. 5.4L, 4R100, 135k miles. Newly acquired from a friend and it appears that it hadn't really been taken care of.
Experiencing a washboard type vibration at 45+ MPH that feels like it originates somewhere behind the driver's seat...
the twist is that it is only experienced when maintaining speed. If you coast or accelerate (passing gear) the vibration goes away.
U-joints look good (no play), overdrive on/off doesn't make a diff, tires are new and if it were a balance problem, from either tires or torque converter, I'd expect the vibration more often.
Noticed a minute ago that there is about 3-5mm of vertical (up/down) play in the slip yoke (no play left/right). Thinking perhaps that might be the cause. Can't recall if any play at all is expected or if it should be solid.
Along with this vibration the Expedition was throwing P0305 and P0307. Decided to address those first. Cleaned/replaced all of the plugs and coil, etc.
The codes are gone..........and so is the vibration.
Keep in mind that the vibration was no minor thing. Picture a washed out dirt road. At times it was teeth chattering.
The only thing that I can think is that perhaps the misfiring #5 and #7 were causing a harmonic that translated back through the drive train.
In any case, we'll continue to monitor in case it shows up again.
A bit of an update...

Those code were an important piece of information to leave out.
