Does anyone know the purpose of the extended tube on the water inlet on the intake manifold. Ive attached a picture for reference. The tube extends beyond the threaded section and ends up deeper into the intake. Its strange and would cause more machining or processing of a part vs just using a brass pipe, so there must be a reason behind the design.
Also, since it's the feed for the heater, it likely pulls hotter coolant from the bottom surface of the supply area.
As well, there may be some siphoning effect going on.
Not sure about any of that of course. Just conjecture. But they've been that way for a long time and the engineers almost always had a good reason for doing strange things!
