Well, after months of teetering on the fence I finally decided to sell our Excursion. I was the only one driving around in it the last year or so since the kids are all grown up and have there own cars & schedules now. She went to a good home and a new FTE member - Thermite.
Still have the 2003 7.3L and the 6.0 Dually for now.......LOL
What a weekend it was for me. After driving her home 3 hours last night, I am still grinning. I got up early to wipe her down. This Excursion is everything that we were looking for. Super well built and very very clean. I am so lucky to have run into White Buffalo, I learned a ton in the few hours we spent. I also found this forum, and I have already poured over hours and hours of threads. The looks this thing gets while going down the road will take some getting used to. I can not wait to put the boat behind it .
Thanks again WB.
Welcome to FTE, Thermite!! Rich (White Buffalo) is well known here, as is the intense level of detail he has always demonstrated in caring for his diesels. You got a honey pot of a vehicle!

Thank You, I was and still am in awe of the detail that he put into the Excursion. I feel extremely fortunate to now own such an amazing truck. I look forward to learning from everyone here.
Totally OT, but does anyone know where to get a chrome grille like the one shown on the Ex? I checked eBay a while back but couldn't find any. My OEM grille has the chrome surround with platinum bars. I repainted the bars with Plastikote a few years ago and it looks like crap again. I did the "upgrade" to an '05 grille but I feel like I'm betraying the proud seven three heritage. Seriously, I like the one piece lights but don't really care for the grille. It's not my goal in life to have people think I'm driving a six oh.
Congratulations on the purchase Thermite and welcome to FTE. You got a heck of a nice truck there, with an even better PO. Rich is an excellent guy, he's helped me out quite a lot on my own truck.
Where are you from if you don't mind me asking? Always nice to know of another FTE member that may be semi close by.
Thermite, you very could have just won the 7.3 diesel lottery with that Ex you bought.
Rich, I know you still have the other truck, but don't be a stranger. We all look for your guidance and technical experience many times during our discussions.
I knew right away when I saw the title that someone got one heck of a vehicle. With the 366, intercooler, etc that thing must be a blast to drive.

you are too kind Sous, but I think you exceeded my knowledge & experience some time ago. I was very fortunate to meet and become friends with folks that were very knowledgeable about the 7.3L and were willing to share and teach me over the years. I know I have not been around much lately but I am going to try and do better. Last year was crazy and I felt like I didn’t have enough hours in the day. Between hosting an exchange student, taking over tutoring geometry for my daughter, going back to college and turning 50 - I have been so tired at the end of the day - I could drink a cup of dark black mud coffee and falls asleep 15 minutes later. I just might need a nudge once in a while. Actually Toreador Diesel sent me a nudge this morning seeing if I was hibernating or something -LOL.

Thank you. The 7.3 Lottery is right, I'm still so green and new to the power and Beauty that this thing is. I have so much to learn. This FTE club is extremely consuming. Fishing is calling me and the yard work is too but, here I sit on FTE.
This site is absolutely the best automotive forum I've found for any brand vehicle I've owned or researched (Ford, Volvo, Toyota, Lexus, Infiniti, Nissan, and Audi). Even within FTE, it seems that the 7.3 subforum has a special family character which does not (to me, anyway) seem as obvious in the other regions of FTE. There are a number of true experts in here who are happy to help, and all the other non-experts like me are normally very happy to help as well.
