Ignition help PLEASE

Hello. I recently had to replace my ignition switch on the column, finally wore out after over 30 years. The new one worked perfectly until today. When turned to start, I can hear something "click" in the dash, sounds like it is coming from somewhere around the cruise module. Nothing else happens. Starter is new and turns when the solenoid is jumped. So I tried putting current directly from the battery to the peg on the solenoid that the ignition switch is supposed to power when turned to start.... motor started turning. So I then checked the red w Lt Blue wire that is supposed to feed power to that peg on the solenoid when in start position, and NO power. So, is there a relay of some sort under the dash, inside the cab that has gone bad? I am illiterate when it comes to reading electrical schematics, so do not know if there is a part that I am unaware of.

Thanks.

Look at the base of the steering column, there's a switch that's activated by a rod that moves parallel to the column, up and down the column. When you turn the key this rod causes the switch to be activated, sometimes the metal part inside the column breaks and causes the no start issue you are explaining. It's a dorman replacement part but you have to take off the steering wheel to get to it.

Sorry, I was holding the switch in my hand and moving the slide with a small screwdriver. The rod and key are not involved. Just for some reason it suddenly stopped feeding power. The column switch checks out fine.

Thanks.

How did you check the column switch to determine it was fine?
