I loaned my 03 F350 5.4L to my son for a few days He's been making about 60 mile round trips moving from one place to another. He was on his last load Saturday, My wife and I had to be at my BIL funeral so I couldn't help him. My son called my and said he was on the side of the road broke down, I asked him what was wrong, he said he didn't know but the engine was making a high pitched squeal. So I had him check the oils and asked him to look for metal flakes in the oils, he said no it was all clean, I asked him to start it and let me listen, he did and I told him shut it off after like 3 seconds. I told him a pulley was seized, he argued with me and said no they're all turning, I assured him it was a pulley, I told him to remove the belt, he said he couldn't, didn't have tools. I gave him the option of calling a tow truck at $200 plus or call his friend Matt to help him as I couldn't because of where I was at. Long story shorter, Bad tensioner, serpentine belt shot, told him I'd pay half the cost, Between the parts and filling his friends gas tank I owe $75...LOL. Not to bad on my end for not getting dirty...LOL
