Recall cruise control

Was wondering if ford had a RECALL regarding the cruise control for my truck. Maybe recall number 05v-388?The reason I’m asking is while doing 70mph going up a incline with cruise on the c.c. suddenly goes off. I was thinking my transmission was slipping causing this but not sure. Any ideas?

I don't know for sure but I swag your truck still has a CC that uses vacuum instead of engine management system. Your vacuum that powers the CC is going away as the engine load increases.

NO. these truck do not use vacuum CC control in any way.
After engagement, the PCM load senses lowest road speed CC disengagement.
At speed, even down shifting will still keep CC engaged as evidenced by engine RPM increases and an increase in engine pulling attempting to maintain road speed set from the steering wheel input.
The only disengagement is from a brake application backed up from three sources.
They are brake application using power cut off through the master pressure switch and application of "inhibit" power through the brake pedal switch.
The other sources are to operate the steering wheel OFF switch or the "coast" switch being held down.
Vacuum does not enter into any of these functions.
You have some type of fault if there is a disengagement.
It could be a faulty pressure switch or the use of an after market replacement switch not made to specs.

OK, Bluegrass, thanks for clearing that up. When did Ford go to the engine PCM controlling all this? And was it an "across the board, all models" change?

At least early to mid 80s.
You will find both ECM and stand alone versions on the Bronco/Ranger and ECM control on the Lincoln Mark 7 from 85 on.
The CC module is almost universal to many lines up to point of electronic throttle in 2004.
After this year I don't know how it's done unless I research it.
One point about CC is there must be two kick off actions at the same time to meet federal rules for safety so the system cannot runaway with the driver when brakes are applied. Some are even Horn deactivated as a third way..
Good luck.

faulty pressure switch?
Where would that be located? At 408,000 miles anything could be at fault.
Thanks

On the outer end of the master cylinder.
It has an electrical connector attached to supply power to the CC.
When brakes are applied it opens the circuit..
If it's leaking fluid it needs to be replace NOW, for fire hazard..

Looks like I've had the "recall" already done to my truck since there is a blue "newish" tag there stating that if the fuse ever breaks replace with kit #9f924.
The switch itself is NOT leaking. What else could cause my cruise to turn off while going up a steep hill?

If your speed drops by too much of a margin from the set speed or if the computer tries for too long to restore the set speed without sucess, the speed control is programmed to disconnect.

You will need to provide very specific particulars about what is going on.

Well, I start off on flat pavement and set the cc at about 70mph then the angle of the road increases more steep like going thru Arizona canyons and at some point the speed of the truck slows to maybe 60mph and the cc turns off by itself.

Consult your owner's manual, that's normal.

You may have an older version of the manual or not have gone far enough into yours.. Download the latest revision following the link in my signature.

is that the only time it occurs? If so, normal. Mine does it 50% of the time, flat, hills, etc.
Could be what bluegrass mentioned or the BOBO switch.

Could be exactly what is in the owner's manual that I told him to consult which states explicitly:
"If your vehicle slows downs more
than 16 km/h (10 mph) below your
set speed on an uphill, your speed
control will disengage. This is
normal. Pressing RES will
re-engage it.".
