In one of the other older thread on this subject, myself and another poster mention that we had to grind away a bit of material with a Dremel for a better fit. If I remember correctly, this seems to be an issue with several different brands of bulb.
Perhaps someone who has gotten a good fit right out of the box could post the brand they used.

We ground away a bit of the plastic base on the bulb. If you can dig up the thread I believe 1956 FatFenders posted some pics.
