Another Coolant and Egt ?

Yesterday afternoon

This morning
Gentlemen,

Last year I flushed my system as described in the tech folder and then had a reputable shop replace the oil cooler. Also had a coolant filter installed. I'm starting to get a little worried. On my home from work, a 45 minute drive at hwy speeds, eot has been as high as 219 and my coolant temp at 203. Outside temps have been at 100*. My morning drive to work when outside temps are in the 70s my temps are pretty normal. Temps cool down quickly when I slow down. Should I be worried about it? Another oil cooler? I'm really missing my 7.3. Is there anything else that I should address?

thanks

What temp thermostat do you have? 100* and the AC running will heat things up to. Keep an eye on your fan speed and see how things go.

How was your differential right after the cooler change? Has it migrated higher?
What was the time and mileage interval between your flush and the cooler replacement?

how do I check my fan speed? I noticed that fan speed got as high as 1800 rpms when I was slowing down but when the temps were at its highest the fan speed was in the 4 and 500s

Is your EGR valve still plugged in? If it were me I would judge the cooler condition on your 70* drive in the morning. Keep it steady 65-70mph for 20 minutes then post the results. With it being over 100* with the A/C on road heat etc it will be hard to keep it cool. I would guess your 1800 rpm fan speed was from a stop and start. My fan doesn’t get much over 500-600 on the freeway.

Might be time to backflush the cooler. If it’s not that old it could still be salvageable. I run a 200* mishimoto thermostat and run 200 ect and 206 eot at times but I know I have a 8-10* spread with a 192* thermostat. So mine time is coming.

OP -- you're on the ragged edge regarding deltas. What oil cooler was installed? (Quite a few shops put the non OEM versions in and they're only good for a year or two). Not sure of your year, but the turbo drain tube may have some "kinks" in it -- aftermarket have versions with cleaner radius designs to help flow...................

FiznUKa has some great recommendations, plus I've been using CAT ELCs in my diesels -- mucho better than anything Ford or the local parts folks supply....................

If I go with a Misimoto t-state, should I go with the low temp one being in the south? Hotter temps.

Appreciate everybody advice, Thanks.

I just talked to the shop that replaced it. It has a 2 yr parts warranty and a 1 year labor warranty. It was replaced April 17 2017.
