My father in law as a 2016 F350 dually with which he tows a 5wth wheel with the standard factory OEM sytem (he has a reese receiver that "bolts" into a reese rectangular frame that installs in the pucks...sorry for the weird description....but i do Goosenecks...)
If he wanted to get a GN, he would just have to get the $250K kit with the ball and pucks? right? either the ford, curt or reese?
there is at least 1 ford 5th wheel/goose neck prep kit that Iam aware of...the one I have is a solid piece unit and accepts either the ford 5th wheel or ford goose neck kits. BUT, be advised the ford gooseneck kits come in 2 sizes....an 18K weight rating and a 27K weight rating.
but basically, the answer to your question is yes...
Yep, as long as it is the factory under bed hitch, just the ball and chain points are all that is needed.
Etrailer has three of them from $179 to 255. All ultimately do the same job, though the expensive one (B&W) looks pretty cool
My factory installed 5th wheel and gooseneck assembly comes with all that is needed to attach a 5th wheel hitch (26k load capacity in this case) or a Gooseneck ball 32,000lbs load capcity in this case.
All I need to do is get the correct gooseneck ball kit. All pucks, etc are in place.
Make sure you get the correct load capacity ball and kit for your vehicle. The same goes for a bumper hitch ball. The item shown here is a 30,000lb ball rating. The page provided has some nice details..
This is for the Ford puck system.
