Intake help?

So it appears my wieand 8012 I take I have put on my 460 is leaking oil. When I put the intake on two end gaskets would slide around if I poked at them the intake wasn't pressing down on them. I tried to silicon it more but guess it didnt work. I did have the head redone which means they were surfaced so now I was told if the heads were surfaced then intake needed to be done as well, is this sound right?
Is there a way to get it to seal up without having intake surfaced as well? I dont know how much heads were surfaced.

Toss those rubber seals and just use silicone.

+1! That’s all I did per the instructions with no issues.

As far as having the heads milled and needing to mill the intake. That would largely depend on how much you had milled off the heads. If it was just a clean up cut I wouldn’t worry about it.

I’ve heard that the weiand intakes can have this problem a lot. Watched a guy on YouTube who bought three of them and none worked. Try the silicone, but if that doesn’t work I’d Look into getting a new intake. I’ve got an Edelbrock on mine and it works great.

Ditto. Never use the end seals. Hec, even the instructions with most aftermarket intake manifolds say don't use them. Permatex Optimum Grey

I did use the end-seals on my Offenhauser intake and had no issues. But I also used a LOT of permatex grey as well. I've been told time and time again to toss the end seals and use ONLY permatex.

I will try no end seals and just permatex, seems like that will be a lot of permatex given the space that will need to be filled.

So I also have a weiand 8012 on my 460. I used the end seals with just a dab of permatex grey at the end of the china walls. Mine has no issues.

Having the heads milled wouldn't cause that issue. If the heads were too short, then the intake should hit the china wall and leave a gap on the heads.

I would think there's only a few possible issues:

1) Installed incorrectly (no offense intended)
2) Not a Weiand 8012
3) Not a true 460 (possibly has 429 Boss heads or Cobra Jet Heads)
4) Bad casting on the Weiand 8012
