Input shaft bushing?
Input shaft bushing?
hello all, new to forum. Here’s my issue. I was gifted an 03 Ford F-150 with a V6 and manual transmission. Buddy told me the transmission was hard to get into gear. Well after fixing some bad oil leaks and a fuel pump. I was able to give the transmission a try. He was right. Clutch in and can not get into any gear. Stop truck goes into gear fine. Climbed under and had wife actuate clutch and it seems to be moving. Ordered parts and pulled transmission. The clutch looks a bit worn, but not that bad. Was expecting a pilot bearing, but found a bushing. I am suspecting the bushing is causing my issue. Question is, can I go back with a bearing instead of the bushing? Also input shaft endplay was not noticeable by hand, but had some side to side. Is that normal with such a long input shaft? I was under the gun to get the trans out and do a quick inspection yesterday. If you have more questions it may take a day or two before I get back to to the project to get you answers. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance!
