Radio compatability?

1997 E150 Explorer conversion van.
The CD changer in the back doesn't read CDs. Probably doesn't load correctly.
I see a Ford dash unit listed as 99-05 on eBay. This unit has a single CD and cassette. To me this is preferable than the changer in the back anyway.
It looks to be the same form factor as the cassette only unit in my van, but of course eBay says it won't work. Is there any reason this unit won't fit and connect to the stock wiring plug?

It would depend on the unit din size. If you have a single din slot on your dash you wont be able to install a double din unit. If you do have double din you will just need the wiring harness for your vehicle and solder the wires together

Yes, they are both double DIN size. My biggest worry is that some moron "engineer" at Ford decided to change the pin-outs on the connectors. Or maybe the jack is on the opposite corner and the cable won't reach?
Sorry, I've seen that sort of thing too often.
